Fishers Lake is a nice lake to visit. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. And that's not all you can do here at Fishers Lake. If the weather is great here at Fishers Lake, you can go for a hike along the Buck Spring Trail, and while you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Asheville. On a great day at Fishers Lake you can take a hike along the Pilot Rock Trail, and soar down the rapids of Pigeon River - West Fork in a kayak. Fork is so much fun; near Fishers Lake you locate a golf course called Springdale Country Club. A lake close by is Canton Reservoir; a fine close by hotel is Asheville-Days Inn West. So many enjoyable things in the Blue Ridge
Mountains, just striking. Ski Beech has good slopes and a friendly staff. There is a tremendous hiking trail next to Fishers Lake called the Thompson Ridge Trail, and close by you discover Burnett Cove which is a great place to have
a look at. This lake is so wonderful. Fishers Lake is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Asheville West KOA is a nice site to camp nearby, obviously you could also visit Broyhill Lake since you're here; it's not far at all.
A lot of rainfall falls at Fishers Lake; July is the month that gets the most rain while October is usually the driest month.

There are mountains with no timber, however....One of my favs. the signs say most difficult, but that’s really only for the hard parts, the rest isn’t that bad ;)...But for real, bring sunscreen, and I would advise against camping on the balds...Wind is non-stop, and you are completely exposed to whatever random weather decides to show up, albeit rain, snow, or saturating mist....Beautiful scenery. Well worth the climb. Highly recommended!...The best Pisgah has to offer, and its pretty damn good.... |

Asbury Trail
 | 19 miles away The Pigeon River District, Daniel Boone Council, Boy Scouts of America has the charge of clearing and maintaining this trail. Once each year, the local troops of Haywood County hike this trail and clear downed trees and vegetation that is obstructing this historic trail. The portion of trail cleaned extends from Cataloochee Gap to Mount Sterling. 2008 will see the trail being re-blazed with yellow marks. When hiking this trail, one should be able to see the mark ahead as well as behind when you are standing at a blazed tree.
