Here at Eure Lake there are plenty of people from Rockingham; Buck Mountain is uncomplicated to spot from Eure Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Americas Best Value Inn and Suites is a pleasant choice, needless to say you could also pop by Bruton Mill Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. At Eury Dam right next door to Eure Lake there are some attention-grabbing things to see, and do have a look at Aleks Branch while you're here at

If you come at the right time of year, Uwharrie River offers some tremendous whitewater, and going for a hike along the Uwharrie National Recreation Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.

is April. Looking for something in the vicinity of Eure Lake? Duck Lake is in the vicinity, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Uwharrie Jeep Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Badin Lake Group Campground
is a pleasant local campground, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Biscoe.
During the summertime here at Eure Lake, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime
comes with highs in the 50's while Eure Lake nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. If you came for an overnight stay Norwood Camping Resort is a splendid site to camp, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Birkhead Trail.

Uwharrie River

...other adult and four boys, (six in all) with three canoes. The water was way high flowing over the bridge at Low River bridge on SR 1301, our putin point. With the water that high the current was swift with a lot of low lying trees dwarfing the banks. We no sooner put in and the second canoe got caught in the current and capsized. We in the third were unable to upright it before it became lodged between two trees with the current making it impossible to free it. We were able to recover the two boys and rejoin with the first canoe which had continued on downstream. Long and short of our adventure we all made it to Morrow Mtn State Park in about 5 hours time in two canoes (11:30 AM - 4:30 PM). We stayed to the center of the river as much as possible and negotiated the rapids without mishap. It was very unpredictable with alot of unsuspecting trees in the middle of the river (sumerged islands). We then returned to Low River Bridge to recover the lost canoe. The water was now some four to five feet lower clearing the bridge. With much of the pressure of the current on the canoe now gone ... |

Outstanding scenery! Like a storybook setting , although last time I went , it was close to 100 degrees....It is a very great lake for fishing. There is absolutly no recreation(jet-skiers, water skiers). You must be careful, there are many unmarked water hazards (most are near the upper dam). I wouldn't take an expensive boat on the lake....The perfect place to find yourself lost among nature and forget all of your ''big'' city problems without a 3 day hike into the woods....Falls Reservoir is a hidden jewel. Located between two dams. No development whatsoever.... |
