Different Drum Lake is a reasonably wet place regularly with a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is December. Any time is a delightful time at Different Drum Lake if you adore the outdoors. The skiing at Hawksnest is pleasant, and swing by Dutch Creek it's a wonderful site to go to. After a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn & Suites Boone is a good place to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Flintlock Campground. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Different Drum Lake. Take a hike on the Yancey Ridge Trail. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Sugar Mountain is in close proximity                  to Different Drum Lake; the summit of Baird Mountain can be observed from Different Drum Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail; naturally, A tour to Council Gap is always fun. Vanderpool Campgrounds is a brilliant campground here; there's whitewater on Watauga River for all you adrenaline rush seekers. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Different Drum Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Different Drum Lake. Have a great hiking adventure along the Iron Mountain Trail, and Different Drum Dam is a beautiful location.
