During       the summertime months highs here at Different Drum Lake reach the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Different Drum Lake. Not far from Different Drum Lake, you'll find Rosasco Lake Upper which is a wonderful lake; a delightful close by hotel is La Quinta Inn & Suites Boone. Different Drum Lake gets a lot of water; all through May this area sees the most                  rain while December is frequently the driest month. Why not camp at Honey Bear Campground if you're here at Different Drum Lake; Sugar Ski and Country Club is a perfect spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Get soaked paddling on Watauga River, and why not head up to Hawksnest and strap some skis to your feet. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the area near Different Drum Lake has to offer. Lakes? Sure, Potato Hill Lake is nearby, and nearby you discover the Daniel Boone Scout Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hayes Bluff is a nice site to take a look at while in the neighborhood; there's some flowing water nearby, Dutch Creek is a stream you can take a look at while you're here. A delightful location to camp here at Different Drum Lake is Vanderpool Campgrounds, and going for a hike on the Yancey Ridge Trail is always a glorious adventure.
