Dickens Pond is a wet place that gets much rainfall; most of the rain falls through August; April is when it's the driest. For the period of the long summer days highs here at Dickens Pond get into the 80's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, regularly in the 60's. All through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Dickens       Pond. Hiking along the Dam Site Loop Trail is delightful fun; a golf course nearby is Lake Gaston Golf Club. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Paddling on Roanoke River is so much fun; going for a hike along the Discovery Loop Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. Dickens Pond Dam is worth a visit if you're here, and camping at Outdoor World Corp is always a good experience.
