Get yourself into a kayak and hit Yadkin River, and there is a fine hiking trail close by called the Run Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cox Lake a wet place; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. The warmest time of the year at Cox Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime       highs throughout the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at Cox Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. Get wet paddling on Ararat River, and after a long day outdoors Microtel Suites Mt. Airy is a great place to spend a night or two. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Cox Lake. At Cox Lake you always meet someone from Mount Airy, and going for a hike on the Moores Knob Trail is always a good                  adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Pioneer Village Family Campground is a brilliant local campground, and a nice nearby hotel is Quality Inn & Suites. Go for a hike on the Cooks Wall Trail.
