Go for a hike on the Cooks Wall Trail; why not camp at Pioneer Village Family Campground if you're here at Cox Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yadkin River; Quality Inn Mount Airy is a glorious spot to get some rest. Cox Lake regularly gets lots of rain; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest       month. Lots of people from Mount Airy come to Cox Lake, and close by you come across the Run Trail which is a good hiking trail. All the outdoors cool stuff in the neighborhood of Cox Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly. Ararat River is a fine whitewater spot in close proximity to Cox Lake, and going for a hike on the Moores Knob Trail is always a perfect adventure. If you came for an overnight stay Holly Ridge Family Campground is a magnificent location                  to camp. High temperatures at Cox Lake through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, generally in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Cox Lake.
