Good hiking is available along the Yancey Ridge Trail, and a short journey to Silvervale Falls is always worthwhile. And that's not all you can do here at Cones Lake. A pleasant nearby hotel is The Village Inn, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Appalachian Mountain. That right there is loads already, but it continues; Cones Lake has it all. Having a pleasant time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is simple. You'll stumble       on a stunning lake called Chetola Lake near Cones Lake, and a great location for whitewater paddling is Yadkin River. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. It's a delightful idea to visit Bailey Camp Creek, it's in close proximity to Cones Lake, and you're sure to bump into some fine folks from Boone here. There's good hiking along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, and Roaring River Chalets is a delightful place to get some rest. All through                  the warm months here at Cones Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are regularly in the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Cones Lake tend to be in the 10's. Cones Lake ordinarily gets much rain; May is the wettest month with most rain while December is typically the driest month. If you came for an overnight stay Mulberry Campground is a great spot to camp, and Kirby Gap is in the neighborhood, and is a pleasant site. But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can run the rapids of Thunderhole Creek in the vicinity of Cones Lake, and Boone KOA is a nice local campground. This lake is so wonderful.
