This lake is located in the wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn Mount Airy is a nice location to spend a night or two. But wait, there's more entertaining stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A glorious close by hotel is Mt. Airy Knights Inn, and not far from City Lake you'll find Greenhill Lake which is a delightful lake.       This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Run Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Dry Lake. For the period of the summer here at City Lake, high temperatures typically reach the 80's; the night is a bit cooler of course, generally in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at City Lake plunge into the 20's. If you want                  a delightful time in the great outdoors, just come on down to City Lake. Drift down the rapids of Ararat River in a kayak, and Rocky Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fisher River, and Utt's Campground is a delightful local campground. If you came for an overnight stay Homeplace Recreational Park is a brilliant place to camp, and at City Lake you always meet someone from Mount Airy. City Lake commonly gets a lot of rain; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here; January is the month with the least moisture.   Mt.
