Whitewater paddling is good on Catawba River - South Fork, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from close by Shelby. High temperatures at Cedar Lake all through the summer months are in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with       highs in the 50's with temperatures at Cedar Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. If you go for the outdoors, you'll love Cedar Lake. If you need a spot to stay Value Place Shelby is a glorious choice, and camping is available at Kings Mountain State Park. Cedar Lake Dam has pleasant water scenery and it's close to Cedar Lake, and camping at Caretakers Cottage is always a glorious experience. A large amount of precipitation falls at Cedar Lake; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is April.
