Carroll Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. The Great Smoky Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. A lake nearby is Mission Lake, and the CHoga Trail offers hiking at its best. All through the long summer days at Carroll Lake highs are regularly in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with

There's whitewater on Hiawassee River for all you adrenaline kick people, and if you came to camp Peace Valley Campground is a magnificent place to do that. You just have to go for Carroll Lake. You can run the rapids of Fires Creek next to Carroll Lake, and Ammon Knob is beautiful and can be made out from here. After a long | |

day outdoors Best Western Inn - Murphy is a great place to spend a night or two; a pleasant spree to Ammon Bottom is a good way to spend an afternoon. That right there is loads of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Great
Smoky Mountains has it all. You could also check out Hayesville Reservoir since you're here at Carroll Lake; it's close by; if you need a spot to stay Days Inn Murphy is a nice choice. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Carroll
Lake; Arkaquah Trail is a splendid local trail; Carroll Lake is near Green Cove which is undeniably worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Carroll Lake that you need to camp here for a while,
Creekside Rv Park is a magnificent site for that; Carroll Lake is right by the Coosa Backcountry Trail. The high level of precipitation makes Carroll Lake a pretty wet location; throughout March this area sees the most rain, and October
on the other hand is the driest. Be careful coming to the Great Smoky Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. Why not take a look at Carrol Lake Dam if you're here, and don't forget to take a brilliant little tour to Anderson Branch.

Arkaquah Trail
11 miles away Hiked this trail with a friend on Labour Day weekend 2007 and it was one of the toughest trails that we have done. Parking at Brasstown and hiking down was pretty easy and we stopped to eat at Track Rock. Going back up to Brasstown was pretty brutal even though we are both in good shape. There are few turns or forks, which is good because the trail is NOT marked in many places. We heard reports of a copperhead and yellow jackets on the trail, but only saw red tailed hawks, bugs and worms. There is no water on this trail, but its very shady, at least in the summer. The views are nice and you are advised to take your time climbing using short steady steps. Over 11 miles of hiking total and it took a good 6 hours including rest stops, eating time, pictures, etc....

Bald Mountain Park Campground
14 miles away Mike and Pam has done a beautiful job with the park. We have a place in the residential? section of Bald Mountain Park and we have to go thru the park to get to our place and each time we go up there we notice somrthing else that they have done to the park to make it look better. We used to camp alots before we got our own place,I? would say that Bald Mountain Park is one of the cleanest park that we have every camp at.?????????? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU''ll ARE DOING!...This is one of the nicest campgrounds East of the Mississippi River! I have been to many! Mike and Pam have taken a run-down campground and turned it around and into one that anyone will be glad to visit. There are tons of things to see and do in the area....
Coosa Backcountry Trail
15 miles away ...eded with our journey until we merged onto the Coosa trail. We walked about a tenth of a mile and lost the trail, we then back tracked about one hundred yards and I looked to my left and noticed the marker, it was straight up hill. We proceeded up the side of the mountain realizing that being in our early twenties would not save us from severe exhaustion. We found ourselves stopping every five minutes or so to catch our breath. To add to the intense climb, about half way up it started to rain which made the 40F weather a little colder. We decided we were to far into the journey now to turn back, so we pushed on. After a few hours of strenuous hiking we reached the junction of the Coosa and Appalachian Trail. We pushed on for another hour or two until we reached the top and I saw the better than I expected shelter at the summit of Blood Mountain. We staggered in about two at a time a few minutes apart, each small group repeating the same emotion of screaming here it is, or we found it, finally. We camped in the shelter with two other parties and proceeded to drink the liquor we brough...
Enota Resort and Campground
16 miles away ...th RV camping (full hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds, the gardens or the animal farm. This campground has newly remodeled restrooms and plentiful showers and also has trampolines for the kids (and me!) We were there as a church retreat group was departing and they had a big group sing the evening before in the newly-enclosed pavilion. Occasionally, since I am a musician, I will even lead a sing-along around the campfire in front of the Lodge. Like I said, it's a f...
