Do explore Laurel Lake close to Buckner Lake, it's a scenic lake, and if you came to camp Blue Ridge Gemstone Mine and Campground is a nice site to do that. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. Buckner Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Spruce Pine Campground is a magnificent local campground, and after a long day       outdoors Comfort Inn Marion is a good location to spend a night or two. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Emerald Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and Grassy Mountain is clearly visible from Buckner Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here, you might as well visit Bearwallow Gap; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Bartlett Creek. Buckner Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is                  July, and October is when it's the driest. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the Blue Ridge Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. If you come at the right time of year, Toe River - South offers some glorious whitewater, and a golf course close by is Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club. Grassy Creek Falls is a pretty place to pop by while you're at Buckner Lake; don't leave Buckner Lake without first going for a hike along the Bald Mountain Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Black Mountain/Asheville. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Catawba River - North Fork, and Buckner Dam is a place that is near Buckner Lake. For the period of the long summer days at Buckner Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's.
