Riverhouse Acres
Tent Sites, RV Hookups, Pets OK, Fires OK, Nearby Grocery...Riverhouse Acres is a small privately owned campground at the historic east and west forks of the Pigeon River. Cold Mountain is just upriver from us and can be seen from the property. As a small friendly campground we have ''bring a dish'' gatherings in the pavillion. You can be as busy or as quiet as you want to be with many things to see and do in the area and the river at your front door....

12 miles away The Pigeon River District, Daniel Boone Council, Boy Scouts of America has the charge of clearing and maintaining this trail. Once each year, the local troops of Haywood County hike this trail and clear downed trees and vegetation that is obstructing this historic trail. The portion of trail cleaned extends from Cataloochee Gap to Mount Sterling. 2008 will see the trail being re-blazed with yellow marks. When hiking this trail, one should be able to see the mark ahead as well as behind when you are standing at a blazed tree. The troops also have the opportunity to camp in a primitive campsite set aside for Boy Scout use only. This campsite is located near the river gauging station at the Asbury Crossing at Cataloochee creek....
Art Loeb Trail
14 miles away Fred, there are no mountains in the south above timberline. There are mountains with no timber, however....One of my favs. the signs say most difficult, but that’s really only for the hard parts, the rest isn’t that bad ;)...But for real, bring sunscreen, and I would advise against camping on the balds...Wind is non-stop, and you are completely exposed to whatever random weather decides to show up, albeit rain, snow, or saturating mist....Beautiful scenery. Well worth the climb. Highly recommended!...The best Pisgah has to offer, and its pretty damn good....
