Dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn Mt Airy-Mayberry, and you'll meet a lot of people from Mount Airy here. Nearby lakes? Sure, Pell Lake is right next door to Big Dan Lake, and Big Dan Lake is right by the Cooks Wall Trail. During the warmest time of the year at Big Dan Lake temperatures are frequently in the       80's, and the night is quite cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Big Dan Lake plunge into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Moores Springs Campground on the Dan River is a good local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Dan Lake; Moores Knob Trail is a fine local trail. Don't try to stop me,                  cause I'm havin' a splendid time here at Big Dan Lake. Looking for something in the neighborhood of Big Dan Lake? Witherow Lake is around here, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Cascade Trail. Big Dan Lake gets a normal amount of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is January.
