This lake is so wonderful. Barnes Lake is right by the Group Camp Trail. Barnes Lake ordinarily gets a good deal of rain; most of the rain falls during July, and November is when it's the driest. Barnes Lake Dam is worth checking out if you're here, and Fayetteville Koa is a good local campground. During the summertime at Barnes Lake temperatures are typically in       the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Barnes Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Smiths Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; hiking along the American Beech Trail is great fun. While you're here at Barnes Lake, you could also have a look at striking Clarks Lake, and lots of folks from Dunn come here. Whitewater paddling is not                  for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cape Fear; after a long day outdoors Value Place Fayetteville BR is a splendid site to spend a night or two. If you come at the right time of year, Upper Little River offers some great whitewater, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Little Creek Loop Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff next to Barnes Lake.
