Summer at Back Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Back Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. Colington Park Campground is a great campground nearby. If you need a place to stay Travelers Oceanside Inn is a great choice, and Cypress Cove Campground is       a great local campground. You'll meet a lot of folks from Kill Devil Hills here, and you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Thomas Hariot Nature Trail. Back Lake is a relatively wet place generally with a large amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout July, and November is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful.
