Birchwood RV Park is a good campground nearby; whitewater paddling is nice on Eno River. For the period of the summer months highs here at Allen Lake get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Allen Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Allen Lake, you'll locate Lake Shore which is a       scenic lake, and if you need a spot to stay Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park is a fine choice. Lakes? Sure, General Electric Lake Number Two is nearby, and since you're here you can play some golf at Lake Shore Golf Course. The high level of rain makes Allen Lake a pretty wet place; July is the month that gets the most rain; April is when it's the driest. There are plenty of folks from Durham here at Allen Lake. And if that's not sufficient, there's                  loads more to do close to Allen Lake. Allen Lake is a glorious location to visit for more than one day, Holly Grove Campground is a glorious location to camp nearby; Allen Lake Dam is beautiful.
