There's whitewater on Elk Creek for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and A A Rauchfuss Lake Dam is a stunning                  place, without doubt worth going to. That right there is heaps already, but it continues; A A Rauchfuss Lake has it all. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Appalachian Mountain; if you need a place to stay Red Carpet Inn Lenoir is a splendid choice. This lake is so wonderful. Carr Mountain is clearly visible from A A Rauchfuss Lake, and Green Mountain Park Resort is a perfect campground nearby. Through the summertime months, highs typically are in the 60's at A A Rauchfuss Lake, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at A A Rauchfuss Lake plunge into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. On a delightful day at A A Rauchfuss Lake you can take a hike along the Yancey Ridge Trail, and there are some good whitewater spots on Yadkin River. This site, the Blue Ridge Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing things.
