Yankee Jim Lake is always a pleasure to visit. If you need a location to stay Best Western Mammoth Hot Springs is a fine choice, and close by you locate the Sportsman Lake Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. It is very dried up here at Yankee Jim Lake typically; May is when you get the most rain here while February is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Cinnabar Basin is a nice place, and a splendid place to camp here at Yankee Jim Lake

| | is Yankee Jim Campground and Picnic Area. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Yankee Jim Lake. All through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Yankee Jim Lake temperatures sink to the 10's. There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Yellowstone River, and camping is available at Carbella Campground. This is a good vicinity for folks who like lakes. Twin Lakes | |

is a lake in close proximity, and the view of Dome Mountain is picturesque. That right there is heaps already, but it keeps on going; Yankee Jim Lake has it all. There's whitewater on Mulherin Creek for all you thrill seekers,
and do stop at Cottonwood Creek while you're here at Yankee Jim Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful close by hotel is Yellowstone Park North Travelodge; going for a hike on the Pole Gulch Trail is always a great adventure.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Green Lake, and if you're here, you might as well take a look at Quaking Ash Hollow.
