This lake is one of the great places here in the Cabinet Mountains. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Cabinet Mountains. Fishtrap Campground is a delightful local campground. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Cabinet Mountains. Go for a hike on the West Fork Fishtrap Trail, and a lake close by is Crescent Lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Whitney Lake;       Thompson River Mount Headley Trail is a good local trail, and Jefferson Meadows is right here at Whitney Lake. Having a good time at Whitney Lake is uncomplicated. Good hiking is available along the Daisy Creek Trail, obviously you could also pop by Upper Fishtrap Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. For the period of the long summer days here at Whitney Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's.                  The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Whitney Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Vermilion River is a good whitewater spot next to Whitney Lake, and a great nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - St. Regis. The yearly rainfall here at Whitney Lake is about average; during January this area sees the most snow; July is the month with the least moisture.
