    Do stop by Twin Lakes while you're in this part of Montana. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Twin Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Schumaker Campground is a splendid spot for that, and Lower Twin Lakes Dam is a beautiful place. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range.
That right there is a heap of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Bitterroot Range has it all. A lake nearby is Lower Twin Lake,
 
   and why not head up to Lost Trail and strap some skis to your feet. But wait, there's more to do near Twin Lakes. If you came to camp Bear Creek Pass Campground is a good place to do that; why not take a refreshing hike along the Ward Mountain Trail. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Bitterroot Range. If you need a place to stay Best Western Hamilton Inn is a perfect choice, and Big Sand Creek has a good  
               whitewater paddling spot nearby.
Twin Lakes is not the only site nearby, Upper Twin Lake is a nearby lake; while you're here why not stop at Bear Creek Pass. This lake is so wonderful. Poverty Slide is an attention-grabbing thing to catch a glimpse of if you're here at Twin Lakes, and paddling on White Sand Creek is so much fun. Summertime highs at Twin Lakes commonly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Twin Lakes dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
The amount of precipitation that falls at Twin Lakes is close to the national average; January is the wettest month with most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.

I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait....
