     Not far from Trapper Lake, you'll discover Mink Lake which is a lovely lake, and fine hiking is available along the Old Nez Perce Indian Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range. Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Bitterroot Range. Lakes? Sure, Chaffin Lake is close at hand, and you can go for a hike on the Trapper Peak Trail.

   Lost Trail is just what you need; camping is available at Little West Fork Campground. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Trapper Lake; Castle Rock Trail is a great local trail; why not camp at Boulder Creek Campground since you're here at Trapper Lake. Trapper Lake is a location that is pretty dried out usually; the month with most of the rain is May while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

               Lake, too glorious to be true. Best Western Hamilton Inn is a great site to get some rest. During the summertime highs here at Trapper Lake get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Trapper Lake.

Tag Alder Lake

I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait....
