    In Montana there are many beautiful lakes, Summit Lake is one of them. On a lovely day you acquire a sight of Gallatin Peak from Summit Lake, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Thompson Lake. Summit Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Elkhorn is a wonderful local campground; Bear Basin is right here at Summit Lake. There's so much to do here at Summit Lake that you need to camp here for a while,  
   Castle Rock Inn is a splendid spot for that.
This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Moonlight Basin and strap some skis to your feet; why not take a refreshing hike along the Wapiti Creek Trail. Around Summit Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; most of the rain falls throughout May, and February on the other hand is the driest. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Summit Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Arrowhead, and you're sure to encounter
 
               some wonderful people from Bozeman here.
Summertime highs at Summit Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Summit Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Eldridge Trail, and if you need a location to stay Beaverhead is a great choice. Big Sky is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Summit Lake; Lightning Creek Trail is a good local trail.
This is a magnificent region for folks who like lakes. Chilled Lakes is a lake nearby, and float down the rapids of Gallatin River in a kayak.

There?s this really neat hike a few miles away from us in Big Sky. It starts out near a small pond called Moose Lake, follows a path up some dense forest for a couple of miles, then opens up into these huge rolling meadows surrounded by Cedar Mountain, Pioneer Mountain, and Lone Mountain with a great view of Sphinx Mountain in the distance....
