Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Stump Lake temperatures drop to the 10's. The panorama of Allen Mountain from Stump Lake is lovely, and going for a hike along the Piegan Pass Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy       the Lewis Range. Visit Allen Creek if you're here at Stump Lake, and Glacier National Park is a wonderful spot close by. A common amount of rainfall falls here at Stump Lake; December is when you get the most snow here, and the driest of the months is April. All the outdoors amusing things in the vicinity of Stump Lake will keep you coming back many times. Many Glacier Campground is a delightful campground nearby, and if the weather is nice, you can go for                  a hike along the Cracker Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Interesting geology is available here; Grinnell Point is near Stump Lake. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Lewis Range. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Swiftcurrent Falls, and there are other sites here than Stump Lake, for example Lake Josephine. Lakes? Sure, Swiftcurrent Lake is close at hand; the Grinnell Glacier Trail is a fine hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Rising Sun Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Flathead River - Middle Fork offers some tremendous whitewater.
