Through the warm days of summer highs here at Stony Lake get into the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Stony Lake drop into the 10's. Nearby lakes? Sure, Terrace Lake is near Stony Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Vermilion River. All the outdoors exciting stuff       in close proximity to Stony Lake will keep you coming back over and over. Going for a hike on the Thompson River Mount Headley Trail is always a tremendous adventure; you can stay the night at Fishtrap Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Stony Lake you can distinguish Benson Peak, and Falls Motel is a great place to get some rest. Go for a hike on the West Fork Fishtrap Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Lodge Motel. All the outdoors cool                  stuff in the Cabinet Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. The amount of precipitation that falls at Stony Lake is close to the national average; January is when you get the most snow here; July is when it's the driest. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Cabinet Mountains. Don't leave Stony Lake without first going for a hike along the Moose Peak Trail, and Stony Lake is a great place to camp, Willow Creek Campground is a great place.
