There is a splendid hiking trail next to Stony Lake called the Thompson River Mount Headley Trail; the vista of Benson Peak is scenic. The amount of rain that falls at Stony Lake is close to the national average; January is when you get the most snow here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much exciting stuff to do in the Cabinet Mountains, not sufficient       time. Super 8 Motel - St. Regis is a great spot to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Stony Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Willow Creek Campground is a glorious site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Near Stony Lake you stumble on the West Fork Fishtrap Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and there's whitewater on Vermilion River for all you thrill seekers. Any time is a wonderful time at Stony Lake if you fancy the outdoors.                  Stony Lake is located in the Cabinet Mountains. All through the summer here at Stony Lake, high temperatures frequently get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Stony Lake.
