This lake is one of the great places here in the Pioneer Mountains. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Pioneer Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Copper Creek Trail, and camping at Steel Creek Campground is always a brilliant experience. One of the dominant marks of the surroundings of Stone Lakes is Shaw Mountain; Discovery Ski is a great local ski area. There's tremendous       hiking along the Hiline Trail. Stone Lakes is a location that is reasonably dried out mostly; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Stone Lakes with nighttime lows in the 30's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Stone Lakes. This lake is so wonderful.
