This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range. There is a pleasant hiking trail close to South One Horse Lake called the Mill Creek Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Charles Waters Memorial Campground is a glorious place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Mill Creek close to South One Horse Lake; the Sweeney Ridge Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. All through the months of summer at South

| | One Horse Lake highs are typically in the 80's while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at South One Horse Lake descend into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Days Inn And Suites Lolo is a glorious place to get some rest, and get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Kootenai Creek. Just can't get enough of the Bitterroot Range. South | |

Tag Alder Lake
 | 17 miles away I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait.... |
