For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at South Kootenai Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Townhouse Inn of Hamilton is a pleasant location to get some rest; why not take a refreshing hike along the Sally Ridge Trail. So       much enjoyable stuff in the Bitterroot Range, just extraordinary. Middle Fork Lakes is a magnificent lake in the vicinity of South Kootenai Lake; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend White Sand Creek. The Bitterroot Range scenery is always beautiful. A typical amount of rain falls here at South Kootenai Lake; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month. You can                  see Bass Peak from South Kootenai Lake; there's whitewater on Kootenai Creek for all you adrenaline rush seekers. And that's not everything you can do here in the Bitterroot Range. A nice nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - Hamilton, and hiking is a popular thing to do around South Kootenai Lake; Sweeney Ridge Trail is a tremendous local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things next to South Kootenai Lake. Charles Waters Memorial Campground is a wonderful campground nearby; there's great hiking along the Saint Mary Peak Trail.
