Montana has many beautiful lakes and Smith Lake is one of them. There are good places to explore along the Cutoff Trail, and a lake nearby is Wade Lake. Summertime highs at Smith Lake generally tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's. | | and why not a little side trip to Bogus Creek. Get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of Madison River, and Jackpine Gulch is a pleasant spot to spend some time. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Gazelle Creek Pack Trail is always a fine adventure, and Wade Lake Bench is an attention-grabbing spot to take a look at while at Smith Lake. lake, and close by you stumble on the Dry Fork Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. Not much rain falls here at Smith Lake; the wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. A good nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel - West Yellowstone.
