This lake is one of the great places here in the Crazy Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Half Moon Campground; if you come at the right time of year, Big Timber Creek offers some wonderful whitewater. Smeller Lake gets very little rain; most of the rain falls during May; the driest of the months is February. Murray Hotel       is a pleasant place to get some rest. All the outdoors cool things in the Crazy Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. Thunder Rapids is always fun to check out, and if you get bored of Smeller Lake you could also stop at close by Crazy Lake. For the period of the summer at Smeller Lake temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, frequently in the 40's.
