Slate Lake is a location that is rather dried up typically; through the month of May you get the most rain around here while July is typically the driest month. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Great Divide, and if you came for an overnight stay Cromwell Dixon Campground is a fine location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Rodeway Inn Deer Lodge is a great choice, and Echo       Valley Campground is a delightful local campground. Take a little tour to Hat Creek if you're here at Slate Lake, and nearby you come across the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. All the outdoors entertaining things close to Slate Lake will keep you coming back over and over. There is a fine hiking trail in the vicinity of Slate Lake called the Bear Gulch Trail. Going for a hike on the Gould Helmville Trail is always a magnificent adventure,                  and there are plenty of people from Helena here at Slate Lake. For the period of the summertime at Slate Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 40's.
