     Going for a hike on the Gould Helmville Trail is always a good adventure, and there's some flowing water close by, Hat Creek is a stream you can stop by during your stay. For the period of the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at Slate Lake while overnight lows are generally in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Slate Lake. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the  
   entertaining things at Slate Lake. You could also check out Lilly Lake while you're here at Slate Lake; it's close by, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Bear Gulch Trail. Nearby lakes? Sure, Lois Lake is next to Slate Lake; why not camp at Cromwell Dixon Campground while you're here at Slate Lake.
At Slate Lake you don’t see much rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and July on the other hand is the driest. The nice folks of
 
               Helena like to hang out nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Echo Valley Campground is a nice spot to camp, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Great Divide.
There is a good hiking trail in the vicinity of Slate Lake called the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail, and if you need a place to stay Rodeway Inn Deer Lodge is a perfect choice.
