    Slate Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is so wonderful. On a glorious day at Slate Lake you can take a hike along the Bear Gulch Trail, and a day on the slopes of Great Divide is just what you need. Why not have a look at close by Hat Creek since you're here at Slate Lake, and the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail is a perfect hiking trail nearby. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Slate Lake. When the night sets in  
   temperatures sink down into the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Slate Lake sink into the 10's.
There is a fine hiking trail in the neighborhood of Slate Lake called the Gould Helmville Trail; Rodeway Inn Deer Lodge is a good place to get some rest. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things near Slate Lake. Echo Valley Campground is a wonderful campground
 
               nearby, as expected you could also take a look at Lois Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. Here at Slate Lake you'll possibly meet some people from Helena, and Cromwell Dixon Campground is a great local campground.
Slate Lake is not the only place close by, Lilly Lake is a close by lake. Slate Lake is pretty dried up frequently; May is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
