     From Shelf Lake you obtain a glorious sight of Piquett Mountain; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Piquett Lake. Shelf Lake is one of the lakes here in the Bitterroot Range. Any time is a great time at Shelf Lake if you fancy the outdoors. Lakes are tremendous; Slate Lake is a lake that's near Shelf Lake, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Divide Trail.

   May is when you get the most rain here; July on the other hand is the driest. Throughout the warm days of summer at Shelf Lake highs are frequently in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Shelf Lake. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing things the Bitterroot Range has to offer. Camping is available at Little Boulder Bay Campground;

Having a good time in the Bitterroot Range is simple. This lake is so wonderful. The slopes of Lost Trail are so inviting noone can resist; going for a hike along the Lookout Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. A good site to camp here at Shelf Lake is Boulder Creek Campground; on a great day you can take a hike along the Trapper Peak Trail.
