    A visit to Shadow Lake is always a good idea. There's so much to do here at Shadow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Valley Garden Campground is a fine location for that, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Bozeman. Do pop by Lost Lake near Shadow Lake, it's a striking lake, and there's whitewater on Gallatin River for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Lightning Creek Trail, and dry warm beds  
   await you at Beaverhead.
Visit South Fork Jack Creek since you're here at Shadow Lake. Going for a hike on the Eldridge Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and why not head up to Big Sky and strap some skis to your feet. Around Shadow Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is January.
This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Cutoff Trail; there are some great whitewater spots
 
               on Madison River. During the summertime, highs mostly are in the 80's at Shadow Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Shadow Lake tend to be in the 10's. Be careful coming to Shadow Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. A day on the slopes of Moonlight Basin is just what you need, and you can stay the night at Howlin' Mad Moon Resort.
If you need a spot to stay Arrowhead is a magnificent choice, and Cedar Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to.

It starts out near a small pond called Moose Lake, follows a path up some dense forest for a couple of miles, then opens up into these huge rolling meadows surrounded by Cedar Mountain, Pioneer Mountain, and Lone Mountain with a great view of Sphinx Mountain in the distance....
