     Go for a hike on the Cutoff Trail; there's some flowing water nearby, South Fork Jack Creek is a stream you can stop at during your stay. Summer at Shadow Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows at Shadow Lake during the wintertime mostly dip into the 10's. Near Shadow Lake you stumble on the Eldridge Trail which is a good hiking  
   trail. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Shadow Lake has to offer, you can camp at Howlin' Mad Moon Resort. You'll hit upon a beautiful lake called Cedar Lake near Shadow Lake.
Shadow Lake truly is in the middle of a picturesque outdoors paradise. Shadow Lake is a place with many visitors from Bozeman, and a fine close by hotel is Beaverhead. Shadow Lake is usually a relatively dry site; June is when you get the most rain here while January
 
               is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Gallatin River is a perfect whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Shadow Lake, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Moonlight Basin.
Arrowhead is a nice place to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Shadow Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Valley Garden Campground is a glorious site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Lightning Creek Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and lakes are such serene spots, why not pop by Lost Lake. A great place for whitewater paddling close to Shadow Lake is Madison River, and Big Sky is a very popular ski area in the vicinity.
