     Some of the water nearby flows, like Lime Creek, and there are great places to explore along the Pole Gulch Trail. The Lodge at Big Sky is a great spot to get some rest; Lake of the Pines is a nearby lake that you could visit. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the slopes at Moonlight Basin in close proximity, and the sight of wonderful Avalanche Spire Rock is brilliant. You can run the rapids of Gallatin River close to Rat Lake, and nearby you discover the Divide  
   Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail.
Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the neighborhood of Rat Lake. If you need a spot to stay Big EZ Lodge is a splendid choice; Castle Rock Inn is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Moose Flat Campground is a magnificent site to camp, and going for a hike on the Red Rock Trail is always a splendid adventure. The warmest time of the year brings highs
 
               in the 80's to Rat Lake; the overnight is a little colder of course, commonly in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Rat Lake are in the 0's.
If you're visiting Rat Lake from Bozeman, you won't be the only one, and if you're here, you could also visit striking Pioneer Lakes. Rat Lake gets very little rain; May is the wettest month with most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Big Sky.

Bridger Bowl offers a very diverse ski experience with the following ratings: 20% beginner, 30% intermediate, 20% advance and 30% extreme. Incredible expert only skiing is available off Bridger's new Schlasman's Chairlift and on the renowned ''Ridge.'' Skiers and snowboarders who wish to ride the new lift or access this terrain, collectively known as Ridge Terrain, must have an avalanche transceiver (457 kHz). It is strongly recommended to have a partner, a shovel and expert skiing abilities in addition to knowledge of the terrain before venturing into the area which will have no hazard markings, no grooming and no marked trails. Ridge Terrain contains numerous steep chutes, rock cliffs, and snowfields which may end in unmarked cliffs. Clearly, Bridger Bowl's Ridge Terrain provides some of the most challenging skiing found within any ski area boundary!...
