Do stop by Rachel Lake while you're in this part of Montana. This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. From a precipitation point of view Rachel Lake is a relatively typical place; most of the rain falls all through June while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A lake nearby is Alp Lake; Rachel Lake is right by the Clay Butte Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Cary Inn is a wonderful spot to get some rest,

| | and do take a hike on the Granite Loop Trail. Just can't get enough of Rachel Lake. Rachel Lake is a brilliant site to camp, Island Lake Campground is a brilliant site, and the Upper Granite Loop Trail offers hiking at its best. If you want a magnificent time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Absaroka Range.

overnight lows at Rachel Lake throughout the winter typically drop into the 0's. Beartooth Lake Campground is a good campground here, and in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clarks Fork Yellowstone River.
