Around Peterson Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; through the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest month is October. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Peterson Lake. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's; nighttime lows at Peterson Lake during the wintertime ordinarily descend into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.       The Carlton Lake Trail offers hiking at its best, and you can take a little visit to Duffy Lake Dam while you're here at Peterson Lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Peterson Lake; Sweeney Ridge Trail is a pleasant local trail; drift down the rapids of Mill Creek in a kayak. This place, Peterson Lake, it completely has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Pyramid Buttes is trouble-free to spot from Peterson Lake; if you need a place to stay Lolo-Days                  Inn Missoula South/Blue Mountain is a glorious choice. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Bitterroot Range. A fine location to camp here at Peterson Lake is Charles Waters Memorial Campground, and get dripping wet paddling on Kootenai Creek. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mill Creek Trail, and camping at Fort Fizzle Campground is always a delightful experience.
