Hiking along the Sweeney Creek Ecology Trail is nice fun; perfect skiing awaits you at Great Divide. After a long day outdoors Best Western Helena Great Northern Hotel is a great spot to spend a night or two. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Park Lake has to offer, you can camp at Park Lake Campground. Why not have a look at Chessman Saddle Dam while you're here, and Park Lake is right       by the Mount Helena National Recreation Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Spruce Hills is clearly visible from Park Lake; there are some glorious whitewater spots on Boulder River. Man, is there a lot of fun things to do close to Park Lake. If you need a place to stay Jorgenson Inn and Suite is a great choice. There's so much to do here at Park Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Tenmile Campground is a good spot for that. A trip to Frohner Basin                  invigorates the spirit; a lake close by is Quartz Lake. This lake is so wonderful. At Park Lake you always meet someone from Helena, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Bear Gulch Trail. Park Lake is usually a reasonably dried out site; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Park Lake. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's.
