    If you are in Jefferson county it's always a good idea to stop by Park Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Chessman Reservoir is near Park Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Bear Gulch Trail. Through the warmest time of the year here at Park Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Park Lake.
Going for a hike on the Sweeney
 
   Creek Ecology Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and if the weather is gorgeous, you get a brilliant panorama of Spruce Hills from Park Lake. Why not camp at Park Lake Campground if you're here at Park Lake, and Park Lake is a location with many visitors from Helena. This lake is so wonderful. There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Park Lake called the Mount Helena National Recreation Trail, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go  
               skiing at Great Divide while you're here.
Park Lake gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Tenmile Campground is a wonderful spot to camp; while you're here at Park Lake it's a splendid idea to visit Frohner Basin. Having a brilliant time at Park Lake is trouble-free. If you come at the right time of year, Boulder River offers some fine whitewater, and Best Western Helena Great Northern Hotel is a great place to get some rest.
There's some interesting stuff to observe at Chessman Saddle Dam in the neighborhood of Park Lake; after a long day outdoors Jorgenson Inn and Suite is a great place to spend a night or two.
