This lake is one of the great places here in the Absaroka Range. Going for a hike on the Pilot Creek Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel Big Timber is a perfect spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Just can't get enough of the Absaroka Range. There are some great whitewater spots on Clarks Fork Yellowstone,       and since you're here at Ovis Lake, checking out Alp Rock is a must. Now, you may imagine that's a heap but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Ovis Lake. Soda Butte Campground is a great campground nearby, and there are fine places to look at along the North Crandall Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Bob Lake is in close proximity, and one of the dominant characteristics of the surroundings of Ovis Lake is Sheep Mountain. And that's                  not all there is to do here in the Absaroka Range. Stay the night at Colter Campground, and close by you stumble on the Republic Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Ovis Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 30's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's while Ovis Lake nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 0's. Ovis Lake gets very little rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
