The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Ovis Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the North Crandall Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Colter Campground is a perfect place to camp. Be careful coming to the Absaroka Range, you might not ever wanna       go home again. The Pilot Creek Trail offers hiking at its best, and a good nearby hotel is Super 8 Big Timber. Ovis Lake is a location that is quite dried out commonly; most of the rain falls throughout May, and the driest month of the year is February. That right there is plenty of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Absaroka Range has it all. The top of Sheep Mountain is easily seen from Ovis Lake, and if you want to visit some interesting stuff,                  visit Alp Rock. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Why not camp at Soda Butte Campground while you're here at Ovis Lake, and do visit Bob Lake, it's a delightful lake. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Ovis Lake; Republic Trail is a wonderful local trail; get yourself into a kayak and hit Clarks Fork Yellowstone. This lake is located in the wonderful Absaroka Range.
