Lakes? Sure, Dog Lake is in the neighborhood, and there is a wonderful hiking trail nearby called the Tally Mountain Billy Creek Trail. Mystery Lake gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls all through June; the driest month of the year is February. Really glorious skiing awaits you at Big Mountain; in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stillwater River. This lake is so wonderful. | | for more than one day, Upper Whitefish Campground is a fine site to camp nearby; on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Ralph Thayer Memorial Trail.
High temperatures at Mystery Lake during the summertime are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. This is a wonderful place to go hiking, It is a tough 7.5 miles uphill. I took my girlfriend hiking on this trail and we experienced a lush old growth forest, then we journeyed onto the mountain, where most of it was dry, but every once in awhile we ran into a majestic stream, with lush plant life growing around them, the view of lincoln county from on the ridge was amazing, the local Dicky Lake, was as blue as ever, and your eyes were allowed to stretch for miles upon open wilderness. Make sure to bring some food, its an energy waster, and some pepper spray!(mace) we did not encoutner any animal life except for insects and birds, but it is a Grizzly bear region.... |
