Mud Lake is right next door to Shoup Lake Dam which is a beautiful place without doubt worth a visit; if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Center       Ridge Trail. This lake is located in the wonderful Lewis Range. You could also stop at Rice Lake since you're here at Mud Lake; it's nearby, and needless to say Dick Creek flows through this neighborhood. Having a nice time at Mud Lake is uncomplicated. Camping at Russell Gates Memorial Campground is always a good experience; since you're here you can take a hike along the Dunham Lodgepole Trail. Mud Lake is pretty dried out generally; during the month                  of January you get the most snow around here, and the driest month is July. Having a tremendous time in the Lewis Range is easy. Nearby lakes? Sure, James Lake is near Mud Lake, and get soaked paddling on Blackfoot River. This lake is so wonderful. The summit of Monture Hill can be spotted from Mud Lake, and glide down the rapids of Blackfoot River - North Fork in a kayak. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun things the Lewis Range has to offer. If you came to camp Monture Creek Campground is a glorious spot to do that, and the Monture Haun Trail is a great hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful.
