This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such calm locations, why not visit Heather Lake in close proximity to Mud Lake; camping at Palace Butte Campground is always a wonderful experience. After a long day outdoors Western Heritage Inn is a glorious place to spend a night or two, and Emerald Lake is a perfect lake nearby.       Just can't get enough of Mud Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Yellowstone River offers some great whitewater; needless to say North Fork Eightmile Creek flows through this neighborhood. A great spot to camp here at Mud Lake is Blackmore Campground, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Pole Gulch Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Bridger Bowl is a nice local ski area, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Red Rock Trail.                  Mud Lake gets very little precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. High temperatures at Mud Lake during the warmest time of the year are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's.
