You can run the rapids of Flathead River - Middle Fork next to Mud Lake, and while you're here, you could also visit pretty Winona Lake. Not much precipitation falls here at Mud Lake; all through the month of December you get the most snow around here, and April is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Flathead River - Middle Fork is a good whitewater spot near Mud Lake, and going for a hike along the West Lakes Trail       will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Logging Creek Campground is a magnificent location for that; since you're here you can take a hike along the Micho Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Upper Big Creek Campground, and after a long day outdoors North Forty Resort is a great location to spend a night or two. Any time is a good time at Mud                  Lake if you go for the outdoors. Gotta ski! Big Mountain is a magnificent place to do that, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Kalispell. Getting to Lookout Creek from Mud Lake is easy, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Danny on Memorial National Recreation Trail. High temperatures at Mud Lake through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's while Mud Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Elelehum lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and a delightful nearby hotel is Kandahar Lodge.
