If you are in this part of Montana make sure to pay a visit to Mud Lake. Mud Lake is pretty dried out generally; during May this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent location to camp here at Mud Lake is Steel Creek Campground; don't leave Mud Lake without first going for a hike along the Copper Creek Trail.

| | nice places to look at along the Grassy Lake Trail. Throughout the summer highs here at Mud Lake reach the 80's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 0's for Mud Lake. Camping is available at Pintler Campground, and you can go for a hike on the Bobcat Lakes Trail.
