Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Mud Lake temperatures fall to the 0's. You're probably hooked on lakes, Lily Lake is one of those nearby. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need       to camp here for a while, Steel Creek Campground is a great place for that. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Mud Lake you can take a hike along the Grassy Lake Trail; you don’t have to go far from Mud Lake to make out the water at Mud Lake Dam. The Bobcat Lakes Trail is a glorious hiking trail in the neighborhood of Mud Lake. Lakes are splendid; Sand Lake is a lake that's close to Mud Lake. Mud Lake is generally a reasonably dried up place;                  the month with most of the rain is May, and February is the month with the least moisture. Near Mud Lake you stumble on the Copper Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail, and if you came to camp Pintler Campground is a pleasant location to do that.
