An average amount of precipitation falls at Moccasin Lake; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is October. This lake is so wonderful. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Absaroka Range. On a wonderful day you       obtain a vista of Middle Mountain from Moccasin Lake; after a long day outdoors Super 8 Big Timber is a fine spot to spend a night or two. And if that's not sufficient there's plenty more amusing stuff to do in the Absaroka Range. Do have a look at Peanut Lake near Moccasin Lake, it's a charming lake; some of the water nearby flows, like Sodalite Creek. For the period of the warm months, highs regularly are in the 70's at Moccasin Lake. Summer nighttime lows                  fall down to the 30's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Moccasin Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Near Moccasin Lake you discover the Crazy Lakes Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail; Chief Joseph Campground is a perfect local campground. And if that's not enough, there's loads more to do right next door to Moccasin Lake. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clarks Fork Yellowstone, and there is a brilliant hiking trail close by called the Republic Trail. On a perfect day at Moccasin Lake you can take a hike along the Pilot Creek Trail; Colter Campground is a magnificent campground nearby.
