Sure, Mine Lake is close at hand; if you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Whitehall is a wonderful choice. Camping is available at Balanced Rock Campground, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Quartz Hill Trail. There are other places here than McKelvey Lake, for example Cliff Lake, and the view of picturesque Kid Mountain is delightful. For the duration       of the warm days of summer here at McKelvey Lake, high temperatures generally get into the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's while McKelvey Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. So many cool things to do at McKelvey Lake, so little time. Not far from McKelvey Lake you hit upon Belle Point, and you can have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Currant                  Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious place to camp here at McKelvey Lake is Potosi Campground, and do take a hike on the Pedro Trail.
