McClain Lake gets very little rainfall; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to McClain Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to McClain Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at McClain       Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Square Dance Center and Campground is a nice site for that; on a pretty day you get a perfect view of Sweeney Peak from McClain Lake. All the outdoors fun things near McClain Lake will keep you coming back persistently. Good hiking is available along the Sweeney Ridge Trail, and you can run the rapids of Mill Creek. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors entertaining things the Bitterroot Range has to offer.                  There's whitewater on Kootenai Creek for all you adrenaline people, and there's tremendous hiking along the Mill Creek Trail. You'll need more than a day to discover everything McClain Lake has to offer, you can camp at Fort Fizzle Campground; if you need a spot to stay Lolo-Days Inn Missoula South/Blue Mountain is a great choice. Having a fine time in the Bitterroot Range is simple. McClain Lake is a beautiful lake in the Bitterroot Range.
