There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Stillwater River. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Martin Lakes has to offer, you can camp at Upper Stillwater Campground. During the long summer days at Martin Lakes highs are frequently in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's while Martin Lakes nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. Hiking along

| | the Fort Steele Trail is magnificent fun. There's so much to do here at Martin Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Dog Creek Campground is a glorious spot for that. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Martin Lakes you can take a hike along the Oettiker Creek Trail; there's whitewater on Sunday Creek for all you thrill seekers. along the Ralph Thayer Memorial Trail, needless to say you could also go to Upper Stillwater Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. Around Martin Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; June is when you get the most rain
here; the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Kandahar Lodge, and gorgeous scenery and great skiing is what you get at Big Mountain. If you're here at Martin Lakes, you could
take a look at Le Beau Creek, and possibly you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Dog Lake is just a very short distance away. Kristianna Mountain Homes is a pleasant place to get some rest, and from Martin Lakes you obtain a great vista of Dog Mountain.

 | 14 miles away This is a wonderful place to go hiking, It is a tough 7.5 miles uphill. I took my girlfriend hiking on this trail and we experienced a lush old growth forest, then we journeyed onto the mountain, where most of it was dry, but every once in awhile we ran into a majestic stream, with lush plant life growing around them, the view of lincoln county from on the ridge was amazing, the local Dicky Lake, was as blue as ever, and your eyes were allowed to stretch for miles upon open wilderness. Make sure to bring some food, its an energy waster, and some pepper spray!(mace) we did not encoutner any animal life except for insects and birds, but it is a Grizzly bear region.... |
