This lake is located in the wonderful Absaroka Range. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Martes Lake. Don't leave Martes Lake without first going for a hike along the Thunderer Cutoff Trail, and Grizzly Lodge is a good spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. You get a good view of Jordan Mountain from Martes Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Republic       Trail. Man, is there a load of fun stuff to do in the Absaroka Range. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Boulder River. Martes Lake is a location that is rather arid ordinarily; May is the wettest month with most rain while February is regularly the driest month. You clearly must have a thing about the Absaroka Range. If you need a location to stay Silvergate Cabins is a good choice; Martes Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Hells Canyon Campground                  is a glorious local campground. A magnificent place to go to close to Martes Lake is Jordan Pass, and camping at Hicks Park Campground is always a pleasant experience. Martes Lake is not the only site nearby, Cirque Lake is a nearby lake, and there's wonderful hiking along the Lodgepole Trail. During the warm months here at Martes Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's.
