Why not take a refreshing hike along the Grouse Lake Trail, and a nice close by hotel is Rodeway Inn Libby. The Crowell Trail offers hiking at its best, and do pop by Big Creek if you're here at Loon Lake. Throughout the summer months at Loon Lake highs are generally in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs       in the 30's with temperatures at Loon Lake dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. From a precipitation point of view Loon Lake is a rather typical place; November is when you get the most rain here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. If you come at the right time of year, Kootenai River offers some glorious whitewater; Kootenai River Camp Ground is a good local campground. There's great hiking along the Pulpit Mountain National Recreation                  Trail, and there are some good whitewater spots on Yaak River. From Loon Lake you acquire a delightful view of Little Tom Mountain; Turner Mountain is a glorious local ski area. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Kootenai River Inn & Casino is a glorious place to get some rest, and Loon Lake is a glorious spot to visit for more than one day, Pipe Creek Campground is a glorious spot to camp nearby.
