It's always fun to stop by Little Carlton Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Lolo-Days Inn Missoula South/Blue Mountain is a fine location to get some rest; pleasant hiking is available along the Carlton Lake Trail. Carlton Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Little Carlton Lake; Sweeney Ridge Trail is a glorious local trail. 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's; night lows at Little Carlton Lake during the winter ordinarily sink into the 10's. If you come at the right time of year, Kootenai Creek offers some tremendous
whitewater, and you can stay the night at Square Dance Center and Campground. Having a great time in the Bitterroot Range is simple. There are some great whitewater spots on Mill Creek, and there's good hiking along the Mill Creek Trail.

Tag Alder Lake
 | 18 miles away I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore. Fishing is best in late spring using small spinners or powerbait.... |
