Lava Lake is a lake worth visiting. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Lava Lake. People from Bozeman love to come to Lava Lake, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Wapiti Ridge Trail. Lava Lake is typically a reasonably waterless spot; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest.
Camping is available at Castle Rock Inn, and going for a hike along the Divide Trail will let you absorb

| | the natural beauty of this area. Rainbow Ranch Lodge is a good spot to get some rest, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Eldridge Trail. Gallatin River has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby, and do check out Cascade Lakes, it's a pretty lake.

in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lava Lake are in the 10's. Hoodoo Cascade is always fun to check out, and Moonlight Basin has good slopes and a friendly staff. This lake is so wonderful. A fine close by hotel is Big Sky
Resort, and Arrow Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Elkhorn is a glorious place to camp; you can hit the slopes at Big Sky around here.
