Go to High Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Shooting Star Mountain is clearly visible from High Lake, and nice hiking is available along the Sportsman Lake Trail. You believe that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Hiking is a popular thing to do around High Lake; Sportsman Lake Trail is a nice local trail, and Carbella Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Crag Lake; whitewater paddling is not for everybody

| | but if it's for you then, we recommend Mulherin Creek. Why not camp at Yankee Jim Campground and Picnic Area since you're here at High Lake, and Shooting Star Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Mammoth Hot Springs is a good place to get some rest, and there's fine hiking along the Fawn Pass Trail. Get your pulse rate up on the magnificent whitewater of Yellowstone River; after a long day outdoors Yellowstone
Park North Travelodge is a perfect place to spend a night or two. It is very waterless here at High Lake mostly; most of the rain falls during May; February is when it's the driest.
